SS2K8 on Win2K8 cluster 6 nodes

Hi,

We want to install 4 active SQL nodes and 2 passive nodes.

do we have to install 4 named instances or may it be 4 default instances?

will we have to install additional nodes on all nodes in the cluster for the
4 instances (24 install)?

Is there some good resource about installing multiple instances on multiple
nodes using SS2K8 and Win2K8?

TIA

Bruno

Since clustered SQL uses the same names on all nodes, you get only onedefault

Since clustered SQL uses the same names on all nodes, you get only one
default instance for the entire cluster.

Personally, I always use named instances on a cluster for consistency.

Strangely enough, BOL gets this right. The steps are exactly the same for
each instance, just with different disks and names.

I strongly recommend creating a workbook in Excel to track all the storage,
network, service account, and system settings.
